The Curious Case of Albert Cashier

One noteworthy happening is “The Curious Case of Albert Cashier” at Smock Alley Theatre from Wednesday, November 8th to Saturday, November 11th. Presented by Quintessence Theatre in association with Droichead Arts Centre, this play delves into the intriguing life of Albert D.J. Cashier, a young Irishman who enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War, concealed the fact that he was assigned female at birth, and ultimately became a decorated hero. This historical journey reveals the complex internal struggles that Cashier faced.

Funny Women Dublin

On November 6th, Whelans will host “Funny Women Dublin,” an all-female stand-up comedy show featuring headliner Deirdre O’Kane and a talented lineup including Justine Stafford, Sinead Culbert, Amanda Brunker, and newcomer Sophia Cadogan. The event will be hosted by ChatterBoxx, with Orla Doherty and Val Troy, comedy writers who promise a night filled with laughter.

Written by Pulitzer Prize nominee Rajiv Joseph, this play promises a thought-provoking journey through history and power.
