Artist in Residence
We love getting creative in the gibson. One of our favourite things to do is to add new artwork to the hotel each year. This year we present our third artist in residence James Earley. We’re proud to be based in the Dublin docklands, and we love nothing more than putting on display amazing art inspired by the unique location of the docklands. This year we wanted to highlight the natural beauty of the area and we were delighted to find someone who could design some signature art pieces that could delight and appeal.
James was super inspired by nature this year, and drew some inspiration from some natives of the docklands, the seagulls! He also chose to highlight bulls, horses along with the seagulls and used a mixed of fine and bright use of colour to accent the natural biology of animals. We are excited to announce that we will be updating our artwork around the hotel for our guests this year. In the New Year, James also plans to create unique outdoor piece, which will be seen right on this page at a future date.

“We are delighted to introduce James Earley as our latest ‘artist in residence’ at the gibson hotel. James is an incredibly talented artist and his gibson hotel collection of prints really add something special to the already stellar art collection at the hotel. His dramatic use of the colour and his interpretation of shapes is truly something to marvel".
Nicky Logue, General Manager
"It is a real honour to be selected as the current ‘artist in residence’ at the gibson hotel and I would like to recognise the talent and work of both the previous winners John Morris and Finbar Dac. The programme has allowed me to really submerse myself within the art and I hope that people come along to the hotel and indeed the Docklands area to enjoy the collection".

This new content James has created is an extension of his animal series which is unique and colourful.
Inspired by the east wall area, James has created a bull, a horse and then a pair of seagulls referencing the marine life relative to the local area.
In his docklands journey, James may use more gestural pieces taking his inspiration from the freight containers & the cranes around the port as well.
